On a gently sloping hill, overlooking the Cotin & Bessin National Park, is Le Chateau de Monfreville. A small chateau in the grounds of 20 acres with a whole load of history. A young family live here and have opted for the Good Life in France, growing their own vegetables, caring for a smallholding of ducks, chickens & sheep plus their pet Donkey, Bert, Bluebell & Mungo, their cats and a fancy pair of fantail doves.

Normandy is famous for its apples, making superb cider, apple juice & calvados all of which can be sampled at many local farms in the area. Normandy has fabulous seafood from scallops, lobster, mussels & oysters with perfect french chips and a bottle of cold white wine! Bayeux, is a beautiful town & is home to the Bayeux Tapestry dating back to William the Conqueror. The Norman beaches are steeped in history both ancient & more recent with the second world war invasions playing a major part. Battles dating from 1066 to 1944, explore the museums & memorials and the golden landing beaches. |
